We're looking for a driven and dependable Leading Hand to join our Gisborne Apples team. As a Leading Hand you'll be responsible for all aspects of in-field operations, including pest and disease, staff supervision, record keeping, and machinery tasks. You will have the opportunity to train staff on seasonal tasks, onboard new teams and assist with the general running of teams as guided by orchard management.
Job Description
You'll need:
Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate a team
Ability to implement and communicate job sheets
National Certificate in Horticulture Level 4 or equivalent experience
Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment
Good time management, and ability to meet daily deadlines
A safety comes first attitude and ability to identify hazards and risks in the field
To be familiar with pip fruit pest and disease best practices including identification and control methods
